Man Arrested For Waterboarding 5-Year-Old Boy
No, you read that right. A 30-year-old Michigan man has been arraigned on child abuse charges after authorities say he restrained his girlfriend's 5-year-old son with belts, leaned him back over a footstool and poured water down his underwear-covered face, According to HuffPost.
Michael Porter appeared in court Monday, and a judge set a $400,000 for Porter. It's not clear if he has a lawyer, the report noted.
Porter claims that he got the idea to waterboard the child after seeing it done on television. To make matters worse, he reportedly tortured this small boy because the child broke his backpack at school.
It was actually the school who alerted the authorities after the child confided in a teacher what happened.
This wasn't his first offense according to MLIVE who reported that police discovered the woman's other son was also terrorized by this creep.
During their investigation, Becker said detectives learned the man also allegedly abused the boy's 12-year-old brother with a knife.
Becker said the man allegedly tied the boy's arms, forced him to his knees and prodded him in the chest and throat with a knife. The incident lasted for roughly three hours, Becker said.
"This is very disturbing," Becker said of the allegations.
Both children have been removed from the home, Becker said.
Porter could now face life in prison for the torture. Police say the boys' mother has not been brought up on any charges but that their investigation is ongoing.
Porter faces eight felony counts, including child abuse, imprisonment and assault, according to records filed in Genesee County District Court. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 28.
"It's very reassuring that our staff is paying very close attention to children and listening and doing what they know is right," said Tricia Hill, superintendent of the Mount Morris Consolidated Schools where the 5-year-old attends. The child's teacher said that she noticed he was acting strangely.
