Trump Lawyer Raises Concerns about NY AG in Fraud Lawsuit
Former President Donald Trump’s attorney, Alina Habba, appeared on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” with host Maria Bartiromo to discuss the ongoing civil fraud trial against the former president in New York. During the interview, Habba argued that New York Attorney General Letitia James should dismiss the case, and also announced plans to file for a mistrial.
The main accusation against Trump is that he allegedly overvalued assets in order to obtain loans. When Bartiromo questioned Habba about the third-party evaluations used in these deals, Habba revealed that an accounting firm was involved and that Trump’s lenders were “sophisticated,” such as Deutsche Bank. She also emphasized that the lenders were not harmed and were paid on time, with interest.
Habba then turned her attention to James, accusing her of overstepping her boundaries by investigating private companies and individuals. She pointed out that James is using a consumer fraud law in order to gain control over the case and prevent a jury from being involved. Habba believes that the judge in the case, who issued a gag order, is biased against Trump and has been making decisions in favor of the other side.

Bartiromo asked about Trump’s children, who have also testified in the case. Habba vehemently defended the involvement of Trump’s children, stating that they have no connection to the case and were only included in the complaint for PR purposes. She asserted that the children have done nothing wrong and should not be dragged into the case. Despite this, Habba believes that James wanted to include them in order to make headlines and further her own political agenda.
Continuing to defend Trump and his children, Habba once again stressed that no harm was caused to anyone involved in the case. She also argued that James’ focus should be elsewhere, as her actions are making her look bad.
As the interview concluded, Habba stated her intention to file for a mistrial and reiterated her belief that James should dismiss the case. She pointed out that James campaigned on taking down Trump and that her actions as attorney general have been driven by her personal biases rather than facts and evidence.
