Alleged Cartel Movement Sparks Response From Texas Gov
Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has called on Governor Greg Abbott to convene a special legislative session to address the growing concerns surrounding Colony Ridge, a massive housing development north of Houston that has become a hub for illegal immigration.
In a radio interview with Texas host Michael Berry, Patrick stated that he plans to ask Governor Abbott to address the issues at Colony Ridge, which many fear has become a strategic center for Mexican cartels to operate in the United States. Patrick expressed concern over the lack of law enforcement and basic necessities for the large community of illegal immigrants residing in Colony Ridge.
According to The Daily Wire’s recent report on Colony Ridge, the development sprawls across approximately 60 square miles and offers financing options without requiring buyers to show proof of citizenship. The development’s marketing efforts exclusively target Spanish speakers, encouraging them to “own land in the United States.”
Berry shared with Patrick that his listeners were demanding answers from elected officials about Colony Ridge. Patrick responded by saying, “This is not what America was built on. This massive complex of people here illegally creating their own city north of Houston is just unacceptable.”
Have you heard about America’s ‘largest illegal immigrant settlement’ that's said to be a hub of cartel activity?
I visited Colony Ridge for @realDailyWire to learn about a development that's home to 40k-75k people and is in the midst of a rapid expansion.

Patrick’s concerns were echoed by Representative Chip Roy (R-TX), who stated that he has received additional information on Colony Ridge and that “it's highly concerning.” Roy also noted that this could be a continuation of the “wide open border policies” and that more developments similar to Colony Ridge could arise in the future.
Governor Abbott’s office acknowledged the “potential wrongdoings” at Colony Ridge as unacceptable and listed actions that had already been taken, including deploying Department of Public Safety troopers to ensure the safety of Texans and enforce law and order. The Governor also directed the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to investigate any potential environmental issues, along with requesting the Attorney General’s office to issue subpoenas to investigate any legal violations.
However, Abbott’s office also pointed to a recent article by The Center Square, featuring claims by Colony Ridge’s developer, William “Trey” Harris and his attorney, Brent Lane, that “no investigations or pending violations exist.” The article also includes a marketing video by Colony Ridge, showcasing the most presentable parts of the development.
Representative Brian Babin (R-TX) also expressed concern about Colony Ridge, calling it a “pressing problem” for his constituents and the country as a whole. Babin stated, “For the sovereignty of the United States and for the safety of every American, we've got to close the loopholes that allow for the exploitation of America's generous laws.”
Video footage of Colony Ridge, captured by The Daily Wire and the Center for Immigration Studies, paints a vastly different picture than the promotional video by the development. It shows a third-world shanty town with homes in disrepair and flags from foreign countries flying high.
Lieutenant Governor Patrick attributes the massive growth of Colony Ridge to the Biden administration’s border policies and urges Congress to pass strong immigration laws and reimburse Texas for the expenses incurred while doing the Federal Government’s job.
In the wake of the rapidly growing development, Governor Abbott’s office stated that “the state will provide all resources and support needed to uphold the rule of law in Colony Ridge.” While Abbott plans to convene a special legislative session to address education policy, whether or not he will address the issues at Colony Ridge remains to be seen.
