Amazon Announces Expensive Pro-Abortion Plans For Employees
Wow, tell me you want to control the world's population, without telling me you want to control the world's population. Amazon announced that it will bankroll a trip to the abortion clinic for any of its employees. Though, they may regret that claim now.
Ahead of the SCOTUS leak, Amazon jumped in to throw its political hat in the ring and offer employees up to $4,000 to get an abortion. The company announced in an internal message that it will cover travel expenses for abortions when an employee cannot obtain one within 100 miles of their home and “virtual care” is not possible, according to Reuters. Citigroup, Apple, Match Group and Yelp are also covering abortion-related travel expenses for employees.
An Amazon spokesman confirmed the policy to the Daily Caller News Foundation but declined to comment further. It will go into effect retroactively, extending to Jan. 1, 2022. So what is that? 2nd-trimester moms?
The Amazon policy will cover $4,000 of travel for non-life-threatening medical procedures and includes abortions. The move comes as GOP-led states are implementing abortion limits ranging from conception to 15 weeks. Florida, Oklahoma, Arizona, and Kentucky implemented new restrictions in April alone.
So what now? The Supreme Court had some rogue employee leak a draft that shows the Justices' plan to overthrow the federal law that legalizes abortions nationwide. So I wonder if Amazon plans to keep this fancy new initiative? It could get pretty pricey considering at least half of the US will ultimately ban abortions.
“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” the leaked draft reads. “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”
“The leak appears to be totally political in nature, not only intended to damage the Court and pressure the justices, but more immediately to incite Democrats to push their laundry list of terrible anti-life ideas, including blowing up the filibuster and attempting to codify abortion violence at the federal level prior to the November elections,” Katie Glenn, Government Affairs Counsel at Americans United for Life (AUL), told The Daily Wire.
AUL’s chief legal officer and general counsel, Steven Aden, said it was “outrageous” that the draft language was leaked, “presumably by pro-abortion staffers within the Court.”
“It is a cynical and naked attempt to pressure justices to alter course in Dobbs and to perpetuate abortion violence,” he said. “The Court should maintain the moral high ground, stick to the clear and courageous language this draft opinion, and not allow itself to be ruled by the expectations of pro-abortion activists or proxy media allies.”
No doubt the leak is a political hit. Justice Roberts has already confirmed the leak is true and launched an investigation to uncover the mole at the Supreme Court. Let's hope he is successful. The leak was unprecedented and undermines the confidence of the court.
