Ashely Biden Defends Dad
In a fiery and deeply personal rebuke posted Monday, Ashley Biden, daughter of former President Joe Biden, took to Instagram to denounce what she called “damn disrespectful and untrue” claims about her father’s health, mental fitness, and legacy.
Her remarks come in the wake of the release of Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again — a headline-grabbing book by Axios’ Alex Thompson and CNN’s Jake Tapper, which alleges a sustained effort by the Biden administration to hide signs of the president’s mental and physical deterioration.
“He aged, YES! As we all do!” Ashley wrote. “But he was always MORE than capable of doing the job. And a damn good one.”
Accompanying her post was a serene beach photo of Ashley with her parents, Joe and Jill Biden — a sharp contrast to the blistering commentary that followed. Ashley brushed off recent media reports and insider claims as "noise/static" motivated by profit and cynicism.
“The ONLY coverup of this family is a BEACH coverup,” she quipped.
She also addressed the impact of the presidency on her father’s health, describing it as a role that “accelerates” aging but does not equate to incapacity. “He worked harder than anyone I have ever known,” she added, calling his sense of duty "sacred."
Just read a copy of this silly book, and if anyone is curious for a review from someone who lived it first-hand: this book is political fairy smut for the permanent, professional chattering class. Ashley’s post follows similar pushback from Naomi Biden, President Biden’s granddaughter, who previously denounced Original Sin as “political fairy smut.”
“Put simply, it amounts to a bunch of unoriginal, uninspired lies written by irresponsible self-promoting journalists,” Naomi wrote, accusing the book of relying on anonymous sources and painting a false narrative.
The Biden family’s public defense coincides with increased scrutiny over Joe Biden’s health — particularly after last month’s prostate cancer diagnosis, which, although described as treatable, further fueled speculation about his long-term fitness.
The allegations in Original Sin — claiming that staffers and advisers worked to downplay or obscure moments of confusion, forgetfulness, or physical frailty — have stirred intense political debate, especially given Biden’s advanced age and the continued speculation over whether he will pursue future political involvement.
