Biden Administration In Hot Water For Downplaying Ukraine Corruption Scandal
The Biden administration and CNN have come under fire as more evidence is revealed on the Ukraine corruption scandal. Joe Biden, former Vice President and now President of the United States, is facing allegations of influence-peddling and using his office to secure favors for his son Hunter Biden, which the White House and the Democratic Party have denied.
CNN has been pushing the party line as on-air hosts like Abby Phillip say there is "no evidence" connecting President Biden to anything illegal involving his son's business dealings in Ukraine. But the reality is that there is a lot of evidence that Biden changed U.S. foreign policy to benefit a Ukrainian business that was paying Hunter Biden.
The most significant evidence is the now infamous meeting Hunter Biden had at the Four Seasons in Dubai with Burisma owner Mykola Zlochevsky and executive Vadym Pozharsky. Hunter's business partner at Burisma, Devon Archer, told the House Oversight Committee that during that meeting the Burisma execs asked if "DC" could "help" them in a corruption probe.
Soon after that meeting, Joe Biden traveled to Kyiv and "threatened to withhold $1 billion in United States loan assurances if Ukraine's leaders did not dismiss the country's top prosecutor" Viktor Shokin, according to the New York Times.
However, a report from the European Commission that was released days after Biden's visit to Ukraine found that the office of prosecutor Shokin had met his goals regarding fighting corruption, organized crime, and human trafficking.
This White House memo is not the only evidence of a connection between Biden and Hunter's Ukrainian business. An email from an FBI informant who is considered a long-time trusted source stated that Burisma owner Zlochevsky told him he paid $5 million to Joe Biden and the same to Hunter. The informant said that Zlochevsky told him he was "coerced into paying the Bidens to ensure Ukraine Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin was fired."
Furthermore, Joe Biden's former communications director Kate Bedingfield allowed Hunter's business partner to review a statement on Biden's Burisma ties. In addition, Biden's staff reportedly told him in an internal memo not to link Burisma owners to corruption if asked at a press conference.
Given the overwhelming evidence that President Trump described as "already proven," it is not surprising that House Republicans are calling for an "inquiry" into Joe Biden's alleged corruption.
According to founding father Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, impeachment is for those who have "betrayed their public trust," something Mr. Trump said is the case with Joe Biden.
It remains up to the courts and the Justice Department to determine if Mr. Biden's actions qualify as crimes. But what is obvious at the moment is that the Biden administration and CNN have attempted to play down the occurrence of this incriminating evidence, and have been caught in a campaign of misdirection.
