Biden Signals For More Gun Control After 4th Of July Shooting
"Jill and I are shocked by the senseless gun violence that has yet again brought grief to an American community on this Independence Day. As always, we are grateful for the first responders and law enforcement on the scene. I have spoken to Governor Pritzker and Mayor Rotering, and have offered the full support of the Federal government to their communities," the statement read.
"I also surged Federal law enforcement to assist in the urgent search for the shooter, who remains at large at this time. Members of the community should follow guidance from leadership on the ground, and I will monitor closely as we learn more about those whose lives have been lost and pray for those who are in the hospital with grievous injuries," the statement continued.
The suspect was apprehended within hours of the shooting but Biden was in a rush to get his statement out
Biden couldn't resist talking about himself instead of the victims. He also signaled that there are more gun-control bills in the works saying, "I recently signed the first major bipartisan gun reform legislation in almost thirty years into law, which includes actions that will save lives. But there is much more work to do, and I’m not going to give up fighting the epidemic of gun violence."
Robert E. Crimo III, the suspect in a mass shooting at a parade that left six dead and sent more than two dozen people to hospitals, has been taken into custody near Lake Forest, Illinois, authorities said during a brief news conference Monday night.
The 21-year-old suspect is the son of a failed candidate, which I mention because the media has used this detail to tie the alleged shooter to Trump. He attended a Trump rally with his father last year dressed as 'Where's Waldo'—which is pretty telling to me. In addition to identifying as a 'rapper', the boy also noted on his social media accounts that he is a liberal.
