Clintons Make Statement Following Biden Decision
Former President Bill Clinton and two-time presidential candidate Hillary Clinton have thrown their support behind Vice President Kamala Harris for the upcoming presidential election. This comes hot on the heels of President Joe Biden’s announcement that he’s ending his reelection campaign due to intense pressure from both the media and his own party.
In a heartfelt joint statement, the Clintons expressed their commitment to supporting Harris. “We are honored to join the President in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do whatever we can to support her,” they said.
Their statement was filled with concern over the potential for a second term for former President Donald Trump, warning of the dangers they believe he poses.
“We’ve lived through many ups and downs, but nothing has made us more worried for our country than the threat posed by a second Trump term. He has promised to be a dictator on day one, and the recent ruling by his servile Supreme Court will only embolden him to further shred the Constitution.”
The Clintons’ message was clear: “Now is the time to support Kamala Harris and fight with everything we’ve got to elect her. America’s future depends on it.”
President Biden, in his announcement to end his campaign, emphasized that his decision was in the best interest of the Democratic Party, although he intends to finish out his term. He wholeheartedly endorsed Harris, calling his choice to select her as vice president “the best decision I’ve made.”
Biden rallied Democrats with a passionate call to action: “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump.”
Harris graciously accepted Biden’s endorsement, expressing her honor and determination to win the nomination. She vowed to unite the Democratic Party and the nation to defeat Trump and his “extreme Project 2025 agenda,” even though Trump is not associated with Project 2025. “We have 107 days until Election Day,” she declared. “Together, we will fight. And together, we will win.”
Interestingly, former President Barack Obama did not endorse Harris in his statement, instead emphasizing the uncertain and unprecedented nature of the current political landscape. “I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges,” Obama stated.
