Comer Has A Message For Biden After Plea Deal & He's Not Going To Like It
Hunter Bidenβs plea deal with federal prosecutors has done little to quiet a House investigation into what many allege was an international bribery scheme between the Biden family.
The deal, with no jail time, is strongly opposed by Republicans both in the government and out, who argue that the elder Biden, President Joe Biden, should be held to a higher standard of conduct.
On Tuesday, House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-KY) dismissed the plea deal as part of a two-tiered system of justice. He said that while Hunter Biden was getting away with a relatively light punishment, growing evidence uncovered by the House Oversight Committee indicates the Biden family engaged in a pattern of corruption, influence peddling, and possibly bribery.

βThese charges against Hunter Biden and the sweetheart plea deal have no impact on the Oversight Committeeβs investigation,β Comer said. βWe will not rest until the full extent of President Bidenβs involvement in the familyβs schemes are revealed.β
This comes after a myriad of evidence uncovered by Republicans suggesting the Bidens drew suspicious money from foreign sources. The House Oversight Committee obtained numerous banking records showing more than 20 shell companies were used to move millions of dollars to the family.
Furthermore, Comer and Sen. Charles Grassley, (R-IA) applied pressure to get the FBI to admit to a form detailing a confidential informantβs highly detailed description of how much as $10 million was paid to the Bidens by a Ukraine oligarch while Joe Biden was vice president.
Comer is now looking to take the probe into the Bidens further by calling in βkey figures in the Biden family influence-peddling schemesβ.
βI think weβve done as much as we could do with the obstacles weβve had to overcome. No one thought I would get bank records,β Comer said. βNo one thought we would get access to the Treasury, Cabinetβs suspicious activity reports, but we would not take βnoβ for an answer. We kept fighting and we prevailed. When we got access to the suspicious activity reports, the mainstream media said there was nothing there.β
The Investigation into the Biden family remains ongoing, and the House Oversight Committee is vowing to continue its probe, regardless of the outcome of Hunter Bidenβs plea deal.
