Conform Or Quit? Lawmaker Passes Resolution That Churches HAVE To Adopt LBGTQ Views
What in the heck happened to separation of church and state? California (Because who else?) passed a resolution to push religious groups, including churches, and Christians, to adapt the LBGTQ viewpoint.
I wish I could say this was a joke...
California lawmakers passed a resolution this month telling "religious groups" — including Christian pastors and churches — to "embrace" the LGBTQ worldview, even if it contradicts the moral values of those religious groups.
Assembly Concurrent Resolution 99, introduced by Democratic Assemblyman Evan Low, also mentions what many believe are problems with so-called "conversion therapy," or counseling for people struggling with same-sex attraction.
The resolution calls on "all Californians," including religious groups, to "embrace" the "individual and social benefits of family and community acceptance" of LGBTQ people.
The resolution also blames "religious groups" for causing high rates of harm and isolation among the LGBTQ community.
There is some good news, however. Because the political action is merely a resolution, it is not legally binding. It does, however, signal a serious shift towards the policing of belief systems that are held by millions of Americans. “They couldn’t criminalize you, but they could obliterate your reputation and your life,” commented Glenn Stanton at the Federalist, noting that the resolution “will grease the skids for it becoming enforceable law.”
Thus, any teaching, preaching, writings or practices that are faithful to the clear sexual instructions of these faiths will be beyond the pale of official California values. They will not be tolerated. This charge makes this legislation overwhelmingly serious and consequential because of the seriousness of this charge. Either one party is directly culpable for deaths or the other of making such a dreadful allegation.
In addition, to be clear, there is no solid evidence to support the idea that non-affirming religious groups are a direct cause of suicide in the LGBT community.
To be clear, what they’re proposing is a resolution and would not have the razor-sharp edge of law. But it would have the real and devastating blunt force of state-sanctioned shaming of religious convictions. They couldn’t criminalize you, but they could obliterate your reputation and your life. There are too many vivid examples of this already. Of course, this resolution will grease the skids for it becoming enforceable law.
I expect this will be challenged (and lose) in the Supreme Court but this is just a shiny example of democrats overstepping their bounds. It's that same warped ideology that people can simply set aside their deep routed faith for the sake of making a more liberal-friendly world that keeps dems out of touch with reality.
This is just insane. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
