Congressman Doubles Down On Musk Criticisms
Oh, you knew this was going to get messy. Anytime you put Elon Musk, Donald Trump, and the federal government in the same sentence, sparks are going to fly. And boy, did they ever during a CNN segment that went completely off the rails when Anderson Cooper, backed into a corner by former New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, actually called him a “d*ck” on live television.
So what set Cooper off? Well, it all started when he tried to hammer Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for supposedly lacking transparency. Sununu, never one to back down from a fight, fired back hard, calling out CNN for conveniently ignoring the actual fraud Musk had already uncovered—like a contractor getting paid for 20 years on a three-month contract, or welfare benefits being paid to someone technically 150 years old.
Rather than addressing those specific examples, Cooper and former federal prosecutor Jeffrey Toobin (yes, that Toobin) kept demanding “proof.” Sununu wasn’t having it. “It is 23 days in here, guys,” he shot back. “These guys are saving $2.3 billion a day. That’s incredible.”
But when Sununu pressed Cooper about whether he supported halting wasteful spending—like the $59 million FEMA spent on migrant luxury hotels—Cooper got defensive. And then, the moment that everyone is talking about:
“Don’t be a d*ck,” Cooper snapped.
Yep. National television. CNN’s Anderson Cooper, supposedly the calm and composed anchor, dropping schoolyard insults because a guest wasn’t letting him control the narrative. And while he later apologized, the damage was done. Social media went wild, and Sununu had the ultimate mic-drop moment without even trying.

But that wasn’t the only meltdown over DOGE this week. Over in Congress, Democrats turned what was supposed to be a serious hearing on government inefficiency into a bizarre circus.
Enter Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), who decided the best way to attack Marjorie Taylor Greene was to bring in a giant photo of Elon Musk—because, apparently, that counts as a “d*ck pic” now. Yes, this is the level of debate happening on Capitol Hill. Garcia’s stunt was a callback to when Greene had held up explicit photos of Hunter Biden at a House Oversight hearing in 2023, but the comparison was so forced it barely landed.
Meanwhile, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) shouted about how Elon Musk—not China, not TikTok, not federal waste—was the real threat to democracy. Democrats accused Musk and Trump of running a “wrecking ball” operation to shrink the government, while Republicans hit back, saying they were exposing one of the biggest money laundering scandals in U.S. history.
And despite all the yelling, some key points still managed to break through. Witnesses explained how outdated technology, convoluted regulations, and unchecked fraud had allowed billions of taxpayer dollars to disappear. Former FBI agent Stewart Whitson warned that Musk and Trump had only scratched the surface of the waste, fraud, and abuse buried under government red tape.
But here’s the big takeaway: Democrats are obsessed with Elon Musk. They cannot stop talking about him. Every time Republicans try to discuss government bloat, Democrats pivot to Musk’s wealth, Musk’s political donations, Musk’s role in government. It’s almost like they fear he might actually succeed in exposing the system.
Meanwhile, Greene and her allies are pushing ahead with legislative efforts to permanently codify DOGE’s government-cutting measures into law. If successful, this wouldn’t just be a temporary shake-up—it would be a structural shift in how Washington operates.
