DNC Launches News Snapchat Filter
So, here we are—another day, another desperate attempt by the Democratic Party to appeal to young voters by piggybacking off a pop culture icon.
This time, it’s a Taylor Swift-themed Snapchat filter promoting Vice President Kamala Harris for president. Yes, you heard that right. The Democratic National Committee thinks throwing a filter out there that references Swift’s 2008 Fearless album will somehow win over the hearts and minds of the youth.
And what’s the grand message? “Fearless for reproductive rights,” “Fearless for democracy,” “Fearless for climate action,” and “Fearless for student loan debt relief.” Oh, and let’s not forget the header: “In My Voting Era.”
Are they serious? This is what American politics has come to—using celebrity fandoms and catchy slogans to mask the disastrous reality of failed policies. Kamala Harris, the VP who’s been practically invisible since she took office, is now being propped up by a Snapchat filter and Swift-themed billboards. This is their master plan for winning over young people.
I mean, forget about substantive policy debates or addressing the real concerns of young voters, like skyrocketing inflation, economic insecurity, or the complete disaster of Biden’s student loan relief program. No, no, just slap some Taylor Swift references on it, and that’ll fix everything, right?
The DNC’s strategy isn’t just ridiculous; it’s insulting. Think about it—how low do they think the bar is? They honestly believe that young voters, many of whom are dealing with economic uncertainty, will be swayed by a celebrity gimmick. But what’s even worse? The billboards are showing up in places like Miami, where Florida is not even a swing state!
They’re spending resources on a state that’s pretty much locked up for Trump, while crucial swing states like Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Wisconsin remain battlegrounds. And in case this couldn’t get any more absurd, they’ve even got a mobile billboard on a boat floating near a stadium. Really? That’s the big game plan?
And, of course, Taylor Swift herself had to get involved. After mostly staying out of politics in 2024, she finally endorsed Harris following the debate with Trump in September. Her Instagram post to 283 million followers praised Harris for fighting for all the right causes—reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ issues, and, naturally, the ever-reliable “climate action.”
Swift said she did her “research,” and now she’s backing Harris because, you know, nothing screams “I’ve done my homework” like blindly endorsing the most disastrous VP in recent memory.
