Lib's Prize Trans Skater Goes SPLAT During Opening Ceremonies
What happens when you put 'inclusion' ahead of skill? Failure.
We recently saw this in action when Finland held the ISU European Figure Skating Championships with a "gender-neutral" figure skater, Minna-Maaria Antikainen.
The program description touted the inclusion of Antikainen as a way to "show that the ice has space for everyone," and Outi Wuorenheimo, executive director of the Finnish Figure Skating Association, said they're working to "change the world" with this decision.
To be fair, they never said he could actually skate...
Unfortunately, this decision was a step in the wrong direction and a mockery of the figure skating world. Antikainen was unable to complete his routine, falling to the ice within seconds of beginning. It's obvious that she has no business competing in a female figure skating competition.
This isn't the only example of the LBQGTQ movement's misguided idea of "progress." We're seeing more and more cases of men and boys competing in women's sports, or women's roles in the military and police forces being opened up to men. This is all being done in the name of "inclusiveness" and "equality," but it's actually hurting women's rights, not helping them.
We need to make sure that the LBQGTQ movement is actually helping to advance the rights of women, not taking away from them. We need to ensure that the rules and regulations of sports, the military, and the police force are fair and equal for everyone, regardless of gender.
This event was supposed to be a celebration of "just be you," but instead, it became a mockery of the figure skating world. While people who attended were too afraid to react, the same can't be said for the online community. Especially after the video went viral:
“With the diverse group of performers, we want to show that the ice has space for everyone,” synchronized skating coach Helena Tienhaara said in the program’s description.
“The opening ceremony will present skaters at various levels from non-professionals to top athletes. On the ice, we will see Single Skaters, Synchronized Skaters, and Pairs. Included among the performers is Figure Skater Minna-Maaria Antikainen, who defines herself as a gender-neutral woman.”
“There are men who are incredible figure skaters. This guy doesn’t even know how to ice skate. I’m so confused how this even happens,” Christina Pushaw, an official with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ 2022 re-election campaign, tweeted.

The Finnish Figure Skating Association made a mistake by allowing a biological male to compete in a female figure skating competition. This isn't progress, it's a mockery. It's time for the LBQGTQ movement to focus on true progress that actually helps women and girls, not sets them back.
