Fetterman Saga Hits Whole New Level Of Idiocy - WATCH
Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) faced difficulty delivering his own line of questioning during Tuesday’s Senate Banking Committee hearing.
Fetterman, who recently returned to the Senate after a lengthy hospitalization for clinical depression and anxiety, is also still recovering from the lasting impact of a near-fatal stroke during his Senate campaign that left him with auditory processing issues.
“Isn’t it appropriate that the — those kinds of — this kind of control should be stricter … to prevent this kind of thing from going? Or should we go on and just keep bailing and sailing whoever banks regardless of how … their … their conduct is?” Fetterman said during his questioning of the former CEO of Silicon Valley Bank.

The Pennsylvania senator then appeared to go off the track, talking about the fact that Republicans want to attach work requirements to SNAP benefits. After suggesting that it was wrong to call for work requirements for hungry families, Fetterman asked, “Shouldn’t you have a working requirement after we sail your bank — billions of your bank?”
In order to assist him as he continues to recover from the stroke, Fetterman has been given a tablet so that he can use closed captioning to read the responses to his questions during committee hearings. When the full Senate is in session, a permanent live caption display monitor has been installed at Fetterman’s desk in the Senate chamber. The Senate will use professional broadcast captioners to provide Fetterman’s captions — a move designed to ensure greater accuracy.
The difficulties Fetterman faced during the hearing are a reminder of the lingering damage he has to deal with in the wake of his stroke.
“I’m still relearning how to listen,” Fetterman said in a recent interview. “I can understand what you’re saying, but I still have to work through the auditory processing of it.”
Despite the ongoing issues that he has faced throughout the hearing, Fetterman still claims that he will have the capacity to make use of his platform to fight for his constituents and the causes he believes in.
