Fetterman Speaks About PA During CNN Interview
Pennsylvania’s Senator John Fetterman didn’t hold back in his recent CNN appearance, acknowledging former President Donald Trump’s appeal among Keystone State voters while simultaneously dismissing Trump’s repeated voter fraud allegations.
Speaking with CNN’s Dana Bash on State of the Union, Fetterman explained that the upcoming election in Pennsylvania would be close, highlighting Trump’s undeniable “connection” with voters in the state. Despite this, he characterized Trump’s campaign as an echo of past narratives, brushing off Trump’s claims with a mix of blunt language and humor.
Fetterman’s comments reflect the complicated dynamics in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state where Trump won by a razor-thin margin in 2016 but narrowly lost to Joe Biden in 2020. With Election Day around the corner, Pennsylvania’s electorate remains fiercely divided, and it’s once again expected to play a decisive role in determining the nation’s future leadership.

Bash pressed Fetterman on Trump’s recent Truth Social post, where the former president alleged voter fraud in Pennsylvania. In that post, Trump called for immediate legal action, claiming evidence of "cheating big" in the state.
Trump’s message cited recent election investigations in Lancaster and York Counties, where officials reported suspected fraudulent voter registration applications—though, importantly, no ballots were implicated. Trump has continued to insist on these claims, referring to election irregularities as signs of widespread corruption, but Fetterman was quick to dismiss the accusations.
“We had an absolutely secure election,” Fetterman said, pointing out that any incidents of voter fraud that did occur were minor and largely associated with a few isolated cases of false registrations. With a hint of sarcasm, Fetterman referenced cases of Republicans casting ballots for deceased relatives, quipping, “... there was voter fraud in Pennsylvania, and there was a handful of Republicans, and they had their dead moms voting for Trump.”

This battle of rhetoric comes as Pennsylvania voters prepare to head to the polls, with both parties understanding the state’s pivotal role in the election. Democrats are particularly focused on sustaining their influence in Pennsylvania, given its significance in both the electoral map and the Senate. Fetterman, who has positioned himself as a vocal figure in the party, emphasized that while the state remains deeply divided, Democrats are ready to counter Trump’s claims and focus on securing a fair election outcome.
