Florida Race Heats Up After DeSantis Scorched Charlie Crist In Debate- OUCH!
During the recovery efforts in Florida Democrat Charlie Crist was in Puerto Rico and only returned to pester storm victims for some of their recovery funds like a common panhandler. Gov Ron DeSantis didn't let that little fact slide during their debate this week. In fact, he shut the Democrats down for harassing storm victims for financing.
DeSantis began by highlighting the hard worker who stuck it out to help put Florida back together after hurricane Ian destroyed much of her west coast shores.
“Look, I’m proud that we had 42,000 linemen staged, ready to go, an unprecedented array of first responders,” DeSantis said during the debate. “We were able to get in in a record time, effectuate thousands of rescues, get the power back on for millions of people in record time.”
“And when the bridges got wiped out in Pine Island and in Sanibel people thought those islands were going to be severed from the mainland for six months to a year, we did the Pine Island Restoration in three days and we did the Sanibel causeway restoration in two weeks,” DeSantis continued. “Now those islands have the ability to recover.”
DeSantis then turned his focus to Crist and what Crist was doing during and after the hurricane hit the state.
“You know what he was doing during this? He was hiding out in Puerto Rico,” DeSantis said. “He wasn’t helping his community here. And then when he got back, what did he do? His campaign was soliciting campaign contributions from storm victims. That is unacceptable and that’s not what a leader would do and a time of despair.”
The only thing Crist could think to come back with after that was that DeSantis might attempt a run for president in 2024. DeSantis has no announced any intention to run. He slapped back that Crist is the only 'old donkey' he's interested in putting 'out to pasture'. A clever response that scorched both Crist and the dilapidated Biden.

I know a lot of people who want to see DeSantis run in 2024, and while that is still an option, it's not DeSantis's main focus and he's made that clear over the last several months.
