He's Nuts: Biden Declares China Not A Threat, Cites Agreement That DOESN'T EXSIST!!!
According to Biden, China will abide by the Taiwan agreement. The question was raised on Tuesday when US President Joe Biden told reporters that he and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, had agreed to “abide by the Taiwan agreement”, leaving many around the world scratching their heads.
Biden made the remark at the White House in response to a reporter’s question about rising tensions in the Taiwan Strait, with Beijing sending more 149 military planes towards Taiwan over four consecutive days amid celebrations of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
"I’ve spoken with Xi about Taiwan. We agree we will abide by the Taiwan agreement. That’s where we are and I made it clear that I don’t think he should be doing anything other than abiding by the agreement," Biden told reporters.
The Taiwan Relations Act, one of several planks undergirding the current diplomatic relationship between the U.S., China and Taiwan, was passed by Congress in 1979 in order to "maintain peace, security, and stability in the Western Pacific" by maintaining "friendly commercial, cultural, and other relations" between Washington and Taipei.
The law maintains unofficial, nondiplomatic relations between Taiwan and the U.S., allowing for it to be treated as a foreign country without being officially recognized.
It also hinged the establishment of future U.S.-China diplomatic relations on the understanding that Taiwan's future would be determined peacefully."
The issue with Biden's claim is that there is no such thing as a Taiwan agreement between China and the United States. So this was more of Biden talking out of his rear. In fact, White House officials had to later clarify that the US does not have a formal defense treaty with Taiwan, although it does with South Korea and Japan.
You would expect a politician who has spent more than 40 years in officer would know that—But this is Biden. The same person who forgot his own name.
