House Dems Attempt Impromptu Meeting With Johnson
On Tuesday evening, Democrats in the House decided to trade policy negotiation for political theater — again. This time, it was a performative march down the halls of the Capitol, complete with chants of “Swear her in!” and a cluster of cameras, all aimed at House Speaker Mike Johnson’s office. At the center of this staged drama: the recently elected Adelita Grijalva, who won a special election in Arizona and is awaiting swearing-in.
There’s just one problem — the government is still shut down. And House Democrats, the same ones holding up any real movement on reopening it, seem determined to ignore that basic fact while demanding their desired outcomes, no questions asked.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, quite reasonably, has declined to move forward with seating Grijalva while the shutdown drags on, largely because of the Democrats' refusal to engage in good-faith negotiations. Just hours before their protest, the Senate blocked yet another Republican-backed clean continuing resolution — the eighth such attempt. That’s not gridlock. That’s deliberate obstruction.
But instead of coming to the table, Democrats chose cameras over compromise.
Democrat members of Congress just attempted to barge into Speaker Mike Johnson's office.

In video footage from the Capitol, Rep. Nanette Barragán (D-CA) is seen screaming in the face of a U.S. Capitol Police officer, furious that her group wasn’t allowed to force their way into the Speaker’s office. Keep in mind: this officer, like many others, is working without pay thanks to the ongoing shutdown — a shutdown that Democrats are actively prolonging. Yet here we have members of Congress berating law enforcement for simply doing their jobs.
The hypocrisy is staggering.
This is the same party that has endlessly invoked January 6 as a symbol of political extremism — yet now finds it perfectly acceptable to storm the Speaker’s office when things don’t go their way. Apparently, banging on doors and shouting down officers isn’t an “insurrection” when the Left does it. It’s just “democracy in action.”
Even more embarrassing? Speaker Johnson wasn’t even in the office at the time. He was attending a ceremony honoring Charlie Kirk with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. So not only did Democrats pick the wrong time — they picked the wrong target. It was a temper tantrum without a witness, a protest without a purpose, and a strategy without substance.
Leading the parade was Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), who, like many of her colleagues, seemed more interested in producing content for social media than in governing. They didn’t show up to negotiate. They showed up to go viral. And that should tell you everything you need to know about the current state of Democrat priorities.
Meanwhile, average Americans are staring down inflation, sky-high energy bills, and uncertainty about their paychecks — especially those in federal service. But instead of addressing those real-world issues, the Democrats are staging hall-pass rebellions in the Capitol, complete with angry shouts, empty signs, and all the tone-deaf entitlement of a Hollywood red carpet protest.
