House Holds Border Security Hearing
A high-stakes House Homeland Security Committee hearing on Wednesday revealed deep fault lines over the Biden administration’s border policies, with expert witnesses delivering scathing rebukes to congressional Democrats over their handling—and alleged enabling—of the ongoing immigration crisis.
The hearing, titled “How NGOs Facilitated the Biden Border Crisis,” pulled back the curtain on the role certain nonprofit organizations have played in facilitating the mass movement of migrants across the southern U.S. border, often under the guise of humanitarian assistance. Witnesses made clear: the crisis is not merely a failure of policy, but a manufactured disaster, aided and abetted by political and ideological actors.

Julio Rosas, Blaze Media's National Correspondent and a veteran border reporter, did not mince words. Addressing Democratic lawmakers directly, Rosas blasted their “fearmongering” over recent ICE enforcement actions. He specifically referenced a high-profile immigration raid in Ventura County, California, which resulted in the removal of violent illegal aliens and uncovered disturbing labor violations.
“They're content with keeping us as that servant underclass,” Rosas said. “It is disgusting to see them criticize that recent raid... where they found unaccompanied minors working alongside convicted sex offenders at a cannabis farm.”
More witnesses at these hearings need to do what @MHowellTweets did here.
“Decorum” doesn’t require a witness to listen to an elected official lying and just sit there hands folded.

Rosas's remarks served as a stark reminder of what critics argue is the real cost of open-border policies: exploitation of vulnerable populations and the normalization of criminal behavior under the pretense of compassion.
Mike Howell, president of the Oversight Project and a visiting fellow at the Heritage Foundation, echoed that sentiment while offering a blunt warning to Democrats: the escalating anti-ICE rhetoric has real-world consequences. He told the committee that inflammatory statements from lawmakers have led to threats—and even attempts—on the lives of immigration agents.
This looks like a cross examination at a high stakes trial by a public prosecutor or some sortof bad-attitude lackey. It wasn't working for her. She was trying to exude confidence and professionalism but she was looking nervous and dumb. I don't think she was compelling at all. https://t.co/5FbC51txcC

That was too much for Ranking Member Bennie Thompson (D-MS), who tried to shut down Howell’s remarks, calling them “outside the scope” of the hearing. Republicans rejected the motion, allowing Howell to continue.
The most notable clash came during a heated exchange between Howell and Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ), whose questioning appeared more performative than substantive. Howell refused to concede her characterizations of his position and repeatedly demanded she back her claims with evidence—something Ansari failed to do. The exchange served as a real-time example of Howell’s point: progressive lawmakers are long on rhetoric and short on facts.
