A family man was left with a ton of questions after a man he says he’s never seen before pushed his way into his home.

Antwain Moton, his wife, and mother inlaw fought to keep the suspect out but ultimately was forced to shoot the intruder.

Moton says he knows he had no choice but to defend his family but did not want to take anyone’s life that night. The young father says he hasn’t really slept since that night and feels for the intruder’s family.

According to The Blaze, the suspect, 39-year-old Efren Nectali Ramirez from Honduras, reportedly forced his way into Moton’s home.

Moton’s wife, mother-in-law, and 4-year-old daughter were in the home when Ramirez reportedly broke down the door.

Moton, who was playing Xbox at the time, jumped to his feet and pulled out a weapon.

“He was in the front door and closed the door behind him when I had to shoot him,” Moton recalled.

Moton, 35, fired his weapon once, striking Ramirez in the chest.

“Eventually I took it [into] my own hands,” he said. “That’s my 4-year-old daughter in the bedroom.”

Moton told WHNS-TV, “His hands were just coming toward us, like he was going to do some type of harm.”

Moton explained that Ramirez reportedly bit his wife and shoved his mother-in-law. The homeowner called 911 right after the shooting and tried to keep the man alert until help could arrive.

The father is thankful that he was actually home for the attack and not at work at the time. Moton says he knows his wife and mother-in-law would have been in serious trouble without him.

WSPA:

According to the coroner’s office news release, investigators were called to the 400 block of Boiter Road in Williamston at around 10:10 p.m. Sunday following a 911 call reporting that someone had been shot after reportedly breaking into a home.

Anderson County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Medshore Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene and the shooting victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
