Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei Claims The Missile Strike Was Not Enough
Iran had the gall to fire missiles at bases in Iraq that they thought U.S. Forces resided in. But of the dozen-plus missiles that they fired none caused any casualties and that's what's important. Machines and buildings can be replaced. But it appears Iran is not done and this attack was meant to be "a slap in the face" to the United States. Iran's leadership claims that they still intend to cut the leg off of America as we cut off their arm when we took out Soleimani.
"The supreme leader had pledged severe retaliation against the US air strike that killed Soleimani as well as Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of Iraq's Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF, or Hashd al-Shaabi), an Iran-backed umbrella organisation, among others.
"Last night we slapped them in the face," Khamenei said in his speech in the capital, Tehran, adding that military retaliation was not enough.
"What is important is that the corrupt presence of the US in this region should come to an end."

"Following the missile strike, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Iran had taken and concluded "proportionate measures in self-defence" under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
"We do not seek escalation or war, but will defend ourselves against any aggression," he said in a Twitter post."
"Though it remains to be seen whether the attacks are the end of the latest escalation between the two nations, Iranian television reported a senior official in the Iranian supreme leader's office as saying that the missile attacks were the "weakest" of several retaliation scenarios."
Iran TV, however, claimed that their missile strike was more of a success than it was.
"Iranian state television claimed that at least 80 "American terrorists" were killed in attacks involving 15 missiles Tehran launched on US targets in Iraq, adding that none of the missiles were intercepted. The claim could not be independently verified and the state television did not provide evidence of how it obtained that information.
Citing a senior Revolutionary Guards Corps source, the state television also said Iran had 100 other targets in the region in its sights if Washington took any retaliatory measures.
It also said US helicopters and military equipment were "severely damaged."
Seems like this was a big failure on Iran's part. Trump seems to agree as he sees this as Iran's way of standing down. So we will have to see if Iran actually standing down.
