Ivanka Slams AOC’s Socialist Agenda: People Don’t Want A ‘Guaranteed Minimum’
Ivanka Trump appeared on Fox News with Steve Hilton and made Americans proud by pointing out that not everyone wants to just be handed the world.
Real Americans take pride in what they have worked for. Her comments must have been a slap in the face to socialist darling, Ocasio-Cortez.
Ivanka’s comments were prompted by a question from Hilton, who said of the Green New Deal’s promise of a federal jobs guarantee: “You’ve got people who will see that offer from the Democrats, from the progressive Democrats, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: ‘Here’s the Green New Deal, here’s the guarantee of a job,’ and think, ‘Yeah, that’s what I want, it’s that simple.’ What do you say to those people?”
Trump responded by challenging the central premise of Ocasio-Cortez and Co.’s promises.
“I don’t think most Americans, in their heart, want to be given something,” she said. “I’ve spent a lot of time traveling around this country over the last four years. People want to work for what they get. So, I think that this idea of a guaranteed minimum is not something most people want.”
Instead, she said, Americans want agency and mobility. “They want the ability to be able to secure a job,” she said. “They want the ability to live in a country where’s there’s the potential for upward mobility.”
“I think fundamentally if you ask yourself the question, ‘Are we better today than we were yesterday or we were 2 years ago?’ the answer is, undoubtedly, yes,” she said. “So, as an American, families sitting down and thinking about their financial situation relative to a month ago or a year ago, America is doing very well and it stands in quite sharp contrast to the rest of the world. So, not only are we doing well, much of the world has slowed down in terms of the pace of their growth.”
Just as Town Hall reported, we saw this in President Barack Obama’s 2009 Reinvestment Act. Green companies received billions in taxpayer dollars. And as reported by the Daily Signal in 2012, these companies often failed and their leaders pocketed the cash rather than actually create jobs and lasting green energy sources.
In fact at the time of the Daily Signal article, “1,900 investigations [had] been opened to look into stimulus waste, fraud, and abuse (although not all are linked to the green-energy funds), and nearly 600 convictions have been made. Of that $80 billion in clean energy loans, grants, and tax credits, at least 10 percent has gone to companies that have since either gone bankrupt or are circling the drain.”
