Judge Found That Obama’s EPA Knew Americans Were Being Poisoned but Did Nothing
A judge ruled that Obamas EPA knew the levels of lead in flint river were toxic but did nothing to warn the locals. In fact, they did the opposite and encouraged the concerned residents to look the other way. The judge’s ruling makes it possible for residents to move forward with their lawsuit.
The Daily Caller reported that the EPA under former President Barack Obama was too slow to intervene in the case, according to U.S. Judge Linda Parker, who ruled that the federal government was not immune from legal action in the case. More than a dozen lawsuits were filed against Michigan and city officials after researchers discovered in 2016 that Flint’s water contained elevated levels of lead in 2014 and 2015.
“The impact on the health of the nearly 100,000 residents of the City of Flint remains untold,” Parker wrote in her opinion. “It is anticipated, however, that the injury caused by the lead-contaminated public water supply system will affect the residents for years and likely generations to come.”
The EPA knew Flint officials “were not warning Flint’s residents that they were being supplied lead-laced water. Quite to the contrary, the EPA learned that State and local officials were misleading residents to believe that there was nothing wrong with the water supply,” the judge added.
When residents noticed there was something odd about their water, they asked for help. They organized. They made themselves seen. But they were routinely dismissed. Among the many ravages attributed to the water crisis – the rashes, the hair loss, the ruined plumbing, the devalued homes, the diminished businesses, the homeowners who left the city once and for all, the children poisoned by lead, the people made ill or killed by Legionnaires’ disease – perhaps the most devastating was that people lost faith in those who were supposed to be working for the common good. That this happened in the Great Lakes State, which is surrounded by one-fifth of all the fresh water on the face of the Earth, makes it all the more haunting.
Yet, Obama’s EPA knew the risks, understood the danger and did nothing. Instead, they told residents that the ‘water is fine’. That’s just sick.
