KJP Begins Book Tour
Karine Jean-Pierre may have hoped her post-White House memoir tour would be a redemption arc. Instead, she’s walking into a buzzsaw—one held by her usual allies in the left-wing press. And the irony is hard to miss: the very media that protected her messaging for years is now putting her under the same magnifying glass they once refused to turn toward the Biden administration.
Her book, Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines, was clearly meant to cash in on the familiar genre of the post-administration insider tell-all. But instead of the red-carpet treatment that former Democratic officials usually get, Jean-Pierre is facing uncomfortable questions—particularly about her role in shielding Joe Biden from public scrutiny as his cognitive and physical decline became impossible to ignore.

"How?"

The most glaring moment came during her appearance with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, where the normally sympathetic host seemed genuinely incredulous at Jean-Pierre’s claim that she never saw signs of Biden’s deterioration. “You were with him every day,” King pressed. “And you didn’t see anything?”
Jean-Pierre's defense? She insisted Biden was “always engaged.” But that’s hardly a rebuttal. “Always engaged” is a bar so low it would embarrass a nursing home brochure. The presidency isn’t a part-time ceremonial role; it’s the most mentally and physically demanding office in the world. And the idea that a president simply being awake and vaguely aware counts as success is, frankly, laughable.
Worse still, her insistence that Biden was sharp and in control during his term contradicts not only countless public gaffes and viral videos but even private Democratic handwringing that began long before the 2024 election collapsed. The reality: Americans watched a commander-in-chief who at times seemed unaware of his surroundings, misread teleprompters, forgot names, slurred through answers, and needed help off stage—literally. There were stretches where Biden disappeared from public view entirely, and when he did speak, it was often through filtered appearances, brief one-liners, or heavily-scripted press conferences with pre-approved questions.
MILLER: “Biden talked way less to the press than Donald Trump does.”
KJP: “That's not true … You weren't paying attention to what we were doing at the White House. The President spoke to the American people a couple times a week.” pic.twitter.com/jYAxHmJKYI

Jean-Pierre’s role in managing this illusion is not a footnote—it’s central to her legacy. And left-wing outlets like The Bulwark and CBS News are now turning on her, not because they suddenly care about transparency or accountability, but because they’re bitter. They view Jean-Pierre as part of a failed containment strategy. She didn’t just spin Biden’s decline—she helped bury it. And they believe that cost them the 2024 election.
This isn't journalism. It’s scapegoating. If these networks truly cared about truth-telling, they would have asked these hard questions before Election Day, not months after the damage was done. Instead, they’re licking their wounds and rewriting history, hoping voters forget they were part of the cover-up.
And for those in the media who still cling to the fantasy that Kamala Harris could have saved the ticket had Biden bowed out sooner—keep dreaming. Harris didn’t become more popular with exposure; she tanked in the polls the more Americans heard from her. If the DNC wants to crown her in 2028, they’re welcome to. But don’t be shocked when the result looks familiar.
