KJP Has Faces Tough Questions From KJP
Today, we're diving into a fiery exchange between Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy and Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. The topic? Vice President Kamala Harris and her role, or lack thereof, in addressing the ongoing crisis at the southern border.
The backdrop to this exchange is a surge in media coverage attempting to distance Vice President Harris from the border issues. Interestingly, some outlets even contradicted their own earlier reports that President Joe Biden had named her the Border Czar.
Doocy kicked off the exchange by holding up a card reportedly circulating among Democrats on Capitol Hill and in the media. This card outlined new talking points on Harris and her responsibilities regarding the southern border. He asked Jean-Pierre if she knew who was distributing these cards.
“I have no idea,” Jean-Pierre replied, suggesting that Doocy should direct his question to Harris's campaign.
DOOCY TIME: “Democrats on Capitol Hill are being handed this card with talking points about the Vice President and the border. Do you know who's handing this out?”
KJP: “I have no idea. You probably should ask her campaign.”

Doocy didn’t let up. He read from the card, which claimed, “Vice President Harris was never appointed border czar. There’s never been such a position. It doesn’t exist.” Then he pressed, “Why are Democrats so sensitive about the Vice President and the border?”
Jean-Pierre tried to turn the tables, pointing fingers at Republicans for the failure of bipartisan border legislation and suggesting that they were avoiding accountability. “Why are Republicans so sensitive about actually not owning up to them getting in the way of a border deal?” she asked, blaming former President Donald Trump for the impasse.
Doocy countered by highlighting the talking points’ acknowledgment that Harris had been tasked with addressing the "root causes" of migration. He questioned whether the border crisis would be less of an issue if those root causes had been addressed sooner.
Jean-Pierre defended the administration, claiming that all progress at the border was due to President Biden and Vice President Harris. She accused Republicans of blocking resources needed for Border Patrol agents and obstructing immigration reform. She also insisted that independent fact-checkers debunked the notion that Harris was ever a border czar.
Jean-Pierre stated, “They sought — they — he moved forward and took actions to deal with what’s on at the border. Republicans continue — continue to block getting resources to the Border Patrol agents. They continue to block actually dealing with an immigration system. So, yes, we are going to debunk the false — the false, you know, characterization of the Vice President. She was not a border czar, and it’s not just us. Independent fact-checkers have said the same thing that that did not exist and that is not true.”
