LOL College Students Agree, Thanksgiving Was Better Under Trump [Video]
Clearly, the college environment shelters students from real-world problems. Nothing makes that more evident than a recent interview by Campus Reform who asked Washington State students how things are going under Biden so far. Many students were shocked to learn about inflation. Most of them didn't even know gas prices had gone up or at least to what extent:
“No, I probably should know more about that,” one student said. “That’s my first time hearing about that being a problem.”
“Personally, no, I’ve not heard of that, or thought of it at all,” another answered.
“I haven’t honestly heard about that a lot, because all my friends are just, like, planning trips — but now that you mention it, I think I should read about it,” a third student said.
That's when Smith hit them with the facts; explaining that Thanksgiving costs were at an all-time low in 2020 and that in a years times the US has hit record numbers:
“Wow, I had no idea, and I’m curious why that would be,” one student reacted.
“That’s crazy to hear that, I just wish I had paid more attention to that, I don’t even know, like, it’s not even on my radar,” another said.
“That’s shocking how quickly prices like that can climb. I didn’t know that about last Thanksgiving,” a third student said.
Smith broke it down for them, explaining the inflated cost of popular holiday treats:
“These 22 percents and these percents are a big deal for [Americans families],” one student said.
“It’s really weird to think that, like, food staples like that are just, like, so inaccessible and expensive,” another reacted.
I think the thing that hit students the hardest was learning about the cost of fuel under Biden. Many of them were planning on going home for the holidays but had no idea anything had changed:
“Wow,” one student said. “I didn’t even consider any of that.”
Smith asked if things are better under Biden and one student claimed that even his more liberal buddies think that things were better under Trump.
Watch
I think organizations like Campus reform have done a bang-up job getting students informed when schools seem to shield them from reality. I think the ones who are bypassed by facts are in for a rude awakening when they get out in the world and try to make it on their own.
