Newsom Responds To Question Regarding Redistricting
If you needed another reason to pop some popcorn and watch the progressive meltdown unfold in real time, look no further than Texas — where Democrats are now finding out what happens when you ditch your day job to play political hide-and-seek across state lines.
Let’s set the stage: Texas Republicans, led by Gov. Greg Abbott, are pushing a mid-decade redistricting plan that could hand the GOP five new congressional seats — a massive boost heading into the 2026 midterms. So what did over 50 Texas Democrats do? They jumped on a plane, fled the state, and hoped that running away would somehow win them a moral victory.
Well... oops.
Abbott isn’t just sitting around waiting for them to return like a jilted prom date. He’s now suing to strip them of their seats, and the Texas Supreme Court has ordered Democratic ringleader Gene Wu to respond to the lawsuit. Translation: the clock is ticking, and those comfy hotel rooms in Illinois and New York may not be enough to save their careers.

But it gets better — or worse, if you're a Democrat strategist. Because while these lawmakers are playing fugitive to block redistricting, they’re also neglecting actual emergencies back home, like flooding response and critical infrastructure needs. That’s not a great look when voters are watching their communities drown while their representatives are sipping lattes in blue-state exile.
And then, as if on cue, in swoops Gavin Newsom, the coiffed crusader of California progressivism, trying to score internet points — and tripping over his own talking points. In a now-infamous X post, Newsom tried to call out red-state gerrymandering by listing “Red states with ZERO Dem house seats” and “Red states with just ONE.”
Except... a lot of the states he listed only have ONE congressional district total. Like, literally just one seat. North Dakota, South Dakota, Alaska, Wyoming? You can’t gerrymander a map when there’s only one line to draw, champ.
Fleeing the state to avoid doing the job voters elected you to do? That’s not leadership.

The internet noticed. White House Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson couldn’t help but laugh. Scott Jennings from CNN and Salem Radio piled on. It was a masterclass in trying to own your opponents — and accidentally body-slamming yourself instead.
Even better? Newsom hinted he may try to retaliate in California if Texas moves forward. That’s rich coming from a guy overseeing a state that’s hemorrhaging population, riddled with rolling blackouts, crumbling public schools, and a budget hole the size of the Pacific Ocean. Maybe focus on San Francisco before worrying about San Antonio, Governor?
Oh cool I can do that too.

Oklahoma
Arkansas
Iowa
Utah
Nebraska
Idaho
Montana
West Virginia
Alaska
North Dakota
South Dakota
WyomingRed states with just ONE Dem house seat:

The irony is just too delicious: Democrats scream about “undemocratic” tactics while literally running away from their own statehouses. They cry foul over redistricting while cheering when New York draws a map that slices Republican districts like a deli salami. And they call Republicans anti-democracy while refusing to vote because they don’t like the outcome.
Let’s be real: you don’t get to whine about the rules of the game when you’re the one flipping the board over.
