Pandering Dems Push Reparations Plan During Financial Crisis- This Is INSANE!
The Democrats and Joe Biden continue to push their irresponsible spending agenda, and the recent reparations bill proposed in San Francisco is a prime example of that. The San Francisco Board of Supervisors recently met to consider a reparations bill that would give qualifying Black residents $5 million as a way to atone for slavery.
Who qualifies? That's a little fuzzy. Well, that doesn't matter because this is just another empty promise from Democrats to pander to desperate voters. The proposal, put forward by the city's African American Reparations Advisory Committee, is just one of many recommendations from its draft reparations plan released in December.
Other recommendations range from offering grants to buy and maintain homes to exempting Black businesses from paying taxes.
Despite the controversy surrounding the $5 million lump-sum payment, the Board of Supervisors can vote to adopt all, none or some of the committee's recommendations and even change them. However, an estimated 50,000 Black people live in San Francisco, but it's unclear who among them would be eligible for reparations.
Under the committee's draft reparations plan, a person must be at least 18 years old and identified as "Black/African American" in public documents for at least 10 years. Eligible people must also meet two of eight other criteria, such as living in San Francisco during a certain time period or descending from someone incarcerated for the police war on drugs.
This reparations plan is nothing more than an irresponsible way to pander to voters. With California already facing a massive estimated deficit of $728 million, it is clear that this proposal is financially irresponsible and could put the state in a deeper financial crisis. It is also worth noting that California never allowed slavery, and the state entered the union in 1850 as a free state.
Not only is this plan financially irresponsible, but it also has the potential to spark a wave of inflation. Biden's reckless spending agenda has already caused a surge in the prices of commodities like lumber, and giving millions of people free money could further exacerbate inflation.
This reparations plan is nothing more than a political ploy to garner votes. The San Francisco Board of Supervisors should reject this proposal and focus on solving the state's financial problems. Otherwise, the state could be facing an even deeper financial crisis in the near future. This reparations plan is nothing more than a waste of time and resources, and Democrats need to stop pandering to desperate voters and focus on real issues.
