Pelosi Sits Down For Interview With CBS News
Let’s talk about the recent interview that’s got people buzzing. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sat down with journalist Lesley Stahl for a revealing discussion on CBS, where she was grilled about her alleged role in pressuring President Joe Biden to step aside from the 2024 presidential race.
To set the stage, this interview came just weeks after Biden ended his re-election campaign and threw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor.
Now, rumors had been swirling that Pelosi, a powerhouse in the Democratic Party, might have been pulling some strings behind the scenes to push Biden out of the race. But when Stahl pressed Pelosi on this, the former Speaker firmly denied it.
Stahl didn’t hold back, asking Pelosi directly what she might have said to Biden to persuade him to step aside. Pelosi’s response? She’s not one to share private conversations with the President. And when Stahl suggested that Biden might be furious with her, Pelosi brushed it off, emphasizing her affection for the President, saying, “He knows that I love him very much.”

What’s really interesting is that this interview happened against the backdrop of growing concerns among Democrats about Biden’s age, mental sharpness, and whether he could still be a viable candidate. CNN had reported that Pelosi had privately told Biden that the polls weren’t in his favor against former President Donald Trump, and that staying in the race could hurt other Democrats in down-ticket races.
But when Stahl pushed further, suggesting that Pelosi was the leader of a pressure campaign to get Biden to bow out, Pelosi was quick to deny it. She was clear: “I didn’t call one person,” she said. According to Pelosi, she was confident that Biden would make the right decision for the country, whatever that might be, and she was ready to support him regardless.
Stahl also asked Pelosi if she had noticed any decline in Biden, or if she thought he needed to step aside. Pelosi stuck to her guns, saying no, she hadn’t seen a decline, and her main concern was that the campaign needed to be more aggressive.
Now, with Harris officially entering the 2024 race and clinching the Democratic nomination, all eyes are on her as she prepares to take on Trump in what’s shaping up to be a highly competitive election. Recent polls are showing a close race between Harris and Trump, so it’s clear that both parties are gearing up for a tough battle ahead.
