Portland Is Fining Feds $500 Every 15mins For Fence Around The Court House, Check Out The Excuse [Video]
Oh, you read that right. Portland is fining the federal Government $500 every 15 minutes for the fence they built around the federal courthouse to protect it from rioters. The bobblehead who came up with this scheme must be really proud of themselves. Get this, Portland has claimed that the fence is blocking the bike lane and thus- must come down, Oregonian reported.
Portland Commissioner Chloe Eudaly announced Tuesday that the fines went into effect immediately and bragged that it was the maximum amount they were allowed to fine anyone. Eudaly complained that the federal government has ignored demands to take the fence down and that the fines are over $200,000 and counting.
Federal officers have been out guarding the courthouse for weeks since it has become the focal point for rioters. The fence has repeatedly been knocked down, destroyed, and climbed by rioters as they fling projectiles and fireworks at agents- but the fed apparently owes Portland?
Transcript of Eudaly's extreme rant provided by THE BLAZE:
"We intend to collect," Eudaly, who is running for reelection, said in a tweeted statement, the outlet said. Eudaly also referred to the forces at the courthouse as "federal occupiers."
According to the bureau's rules, a $500 fee for obstructing the public right of way without a permit can be levied every 15 minutes, hourly, daily, weekly or monthly, the outlet said, adding that Eudaly said she opted for the maximum fine and also is investigating "other legal remedies."
Eudaly told the Oregonian that transportation crews normally would "remove such an obstruction" but that she won't "send workers into harm's way" to get it done, TheBlaze added.
"Yes, I am afraid to direct workers to do their job and enforce our laws against the federal government — I hope that gives everyone reading this pause," she added to the outlet.
Below is a video of this so-called 'bike lane'. As an avid rider myself, I gotta say there is no way I'd ride passed this mess.
WATCH: *warning some strong language
Portland continues to be a hotbed of riots. The city known best for their love and support of Antifa are now seeing the benefits of a nearly lawless society. They must be proud.
