Section Of Paris Struck With Blackout After ‘Technical Anomaly’
Let's dive into a recent event in Paris that has sparked quite a bit of conversation and speculation. On Saturday evening, the City of Lights experienced an unexpected blackout, plunging major areas into darkness. This power outage occurred just a day after the controversial LGBT-themed Olympic Opening Ceremony, which drew backlash from Christians worldwide.
At around 11:40 PM Paris time, tens of thousands of residents found themselves without power. Initial rumors suggested possible sabotage, but these have been dismissed. The local energy firm, Enedis, clarified that the blackout resulted from a “technical anomaly.” According to Enedis, “a network incident due to a technical anomaly has caused power cuts in… Paris, affecting nearly 85,000 customers.”
The irony of an electrical power outage in Paris in the wake of the blasphemous & debauched opening ceremonies of the Olympics should be noted. The evil on display mocks God’s power and then the city is left powerless. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus guide us in His powerful Light. pic.twitter.com/zbATrUTfeT

The blackout affected several key districts: the 1st Arrondissement, home to the Louvre Museum; the 9th Arrondissement, where the Paris Opera is located; the 17th Arrondissement, which partially contains the Arc de Triomphe; and the 18th Arrondissement, known for the Moulin Rouge cabaret and Montmartre hill. Amidst the darkness, one notable landmark stood illuminated: the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre (Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre).
Pictures shared on social media showed the Basilica shining brightly while the surrounding areas were plunged into darkness. The church, constructed after a call from then-Bishop of Nantes Felix Fournier in 1870, was meant to redeem France from the moral decay brought on by the French Revolution.
God Is In Control.

Many on social media drew connections between the blackout and the Olympic Opening Ceremony, which some perceived as blasphemous for its drag queen interpolation of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ. Bishop Emeritus of Tyler, Joseph Strickland, remarked on the irony, saying, “The irony of an electrical power outage in Paris in the wake of the blasphemous [and] debauched opening ceremonies of the Olympics should be noted. The evil on display mocks God’s power and then the city is left powerless. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus guide us in His powerful Light.”

Other religious figures echoed this sentiment. Sr. Mary Joseph Calore, Mother Provincial of the American Province of the Sister Servants of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, tweeted, “God is in control. Just twenty-four hours after the opening Olympic debauchery in Paris, they get a blackout. The only lights that could be seen were on the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.”
The backlash against the Olympic Opening Ceremony led the organizers to issue a somewhat reluctant apology, stating, “If people have taken any offense, we are of course really sorry.”
