Staffers Leak About Biden Confirms What We All Knew
President Joe Biden's aides are reportedly left scratching their heads over the mysterious phrase he uttered during a speech on gun control in Connecticut on Wednesday.
"God Save the Queen" is a traditional patriotic British song that is typically used at the end of formal occasions – but why was it used by the leader of the United States?
"We had no explanation," White House principal deputy press secretary Olivia Dalton told reporters, adding that Biden "was commenting to someone in the crowd."
According to Axios, which spoke to Biden's aides about his "wacky phrases," there is often confusion as to why the president chooses to say something like this.
The outlet went on to note that this is simply "Biden being Biden."
Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment, but has yet to receive a response.
The confusion surrounding Biden's "God Save the Queen" remark is just the latest in a series of strange and bizarre remarks he has made in recent months. For example, during an event with community college students in May, he said: "Is that the truth? Now, don’t make me a dog-faced, lying, pony-soldier."
Axios speculated that the phrase may be more of a sarcastic comment, given that he previously noted, “I’m a proud Irishman whose ancestors probably weren’t big fans of the crown.”
Biden is set to turn 81 this year and his age has become an increasing source of concern for both Democrats and Republicans alike.
Former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton recently addressed the issue in an interview with the Financial Times.
"But his age is an issue, and people have every right to consider it," Clinton said. "But, you know, he has this great saying – and I think he's right – don't judge him for running against the Almighty but against the alternative. I am of the camp that I think he's determined to run; he has a good record that, three years ago, people would not have predicted would have gotten done."
It appears that Biden's age isn't something he's inclined to address himself. And in the meantime, his aides are still trying to make sense of his latest "God Save the Queen" comment.
