Trump Promises $5,000 Dividend If GOP Wins Midterms
Donald Trump announced a $5,000 dividend for every adult American if Republicans win the 2026 midterm elections. The president made this promise Wednesday night at the Republican National Committee Midterm Conference in Dallas, Texas. He stated the plan would cost roughly $1.35 trillion based on the 269.7 million adults in the U.S.
Trump described the payout as similar to a successful company sharing cash with shareholders. He noted it would be like the $1,776 he gave to military members last year. The only rule is that the money must be spent within the United States.
Trump said he will visit 35 states to help elect Republicans to Congress. He specifically mentioned returning to Texas to support Ken Paxton against Democrat James Talarico. According to the Daily Signal, Trump called Talarico a "weird looking dude" who wants to "totally dismantle capitalism."
He also criticized Talarico for past comments about God and for being vegan. Trump claimed the opponent started eating meat to improve his image but was recently seen at a barbecue. The president called Paxton the greatest attorney general in America despite his style.

Trump acknowledged that sitting presidents usually do not play a large role in midterms. He said he is breaking that mold to ensure the second half of his term matches the first. This plan requires voters to turn out in November to fund the payout.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise warned that a Democrat victory would bring back "crazy" policies from the Biden years. He spoke at the same conference in Dallas on Wednesday. Scalise claimed the current administration delivered the most secure border in history and cut $1.7 trillion in waste.
He argued that Democrats voted to allow men in women's sports and to pack the Supreme Court. Scalise also claimed they voted to let illegal aliens vote in federal elections. He warned that if Democrats retake the House, they will impeach President Trump and his Cabinet.
Scalise urged voters to defeat socialism so children can celebrate America's 300th birthday. The Daily Signal reported this rally focused on protecting Trump's successes.
Trump also shared a map on Truth Social showing Canada and Mexico as U.S. territories. He previously said Canada could be the 51st state and renamed Lake Ontario to "Lake America." The map included Cuba, which Trump has called "next" on his agenda for regime change.
According to reports, the sitting president is not meant to secure victory in the midterms. He promised to make this election an even more important time for the country. Voters were asked by him to let him finish the work started in the "greatest two years in the history of the presidency"
