Trump Puts His Foot Down On Border Security As Government Shutdown Approaches “The Wall Will Get Built”
With the budget deadline quickly approaching on December 21, Trump is not budging on securing our borders and protecting our country.
On Tuesday morning prior to his meeting with Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, President Trump vowed that he’s going to see to it that the border wall along our southern border will be built one way or the other.
President Trump tweeted this morning,
“.....I look forward to my meeting with Chuck Schumer & Nancy Pelosi. In 2006, Democrats voted for a Wall, and they were right to do so. Today, they no longer want Border Security. They will fight it at all cost, and Nancy must get votes for Speaker. But the Wall will get built...”
“....People do not yet realize how much of the Wall, including really effective renovation, has already been built. If the Democrats do not give us the votes to secure our Country, the Military will build the remaining sections of the Wall. They know how important it is!”
The meeting this morning was seen to be a heated one. President Trump even told Chuck Shumer directly , “I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck.”
According to CNBC,
"Pelosi has said she will not agree to any border wall money in a Department of Homeland Security funding bill. She and Schumer planned to offer Trump a deal to pass appropriations bills for six agencies, along with a year-long measure to keep DHS funding at current levels, according to NBC News. If Trump denied that agreement, the Democrats planned to suggest a yearlong continuing resolution for all unfunded departments."
