Trump Reveals Plan For Preemptive Pardons If Democrats Win
President Trump told the New York Post he will issue sweeping preemptive pardons to his entire administration if Democrats win the midterms and move to prosecute his allies.
Speaking to columnist Miranda Devine on "Pod Force One," Trump confirmed he is ready to act immediately to protect his team from legal threats.
When asked directly if he would pardon his staff, Trump replied, "I would if I needed to. Sure," per the New York Post.
He later added simply, "I'd do it," regarding the protection of his cabinet and close allies if the political landscape shifts.
Trump pointed to his own past actions as proof, noting, "I did it for J6," referencing the roughly 1,500 defendants he pardoned on his first day back in office in 2025.
He also highlighted former President Joe Biden's use of the same power to shield Dr. Anthony Fauci and his own son, Hunter.
"That's what Biden did. He gave everybody a pardon," Trump said, according to the New York Post.
"I guess I'll become Mr. Veto."
President Trump lays out his strategy for dealing with a potential Democratic-controlled Congress in an exclusive interview with Miranda Devine.
Trump says he would veto legislation before eventually negotiating compromises, while expressing hope Republicans maintain control after Tuesday's midterms.

He dismissed the House Jan. 6 committee as "the unselect committee" and "a corrupt committee" while discussing these potential legal defenses.
The push for these pardons comes after Sen. Elissa Slotkin stated her party's intent to target specific figures in the Trump administration.
At a University of Chicago event, Slotkin said a Democratic majority should prosecute "signature cases" against "the people who enable" Trump, per the New York Post.
She made the goal clear in her own words: "to make young conservatives think twice about taking jobs with the Trump administration."
"I want that deterrence message sent," Slotkin said, according to the New York Post.
Undercover footage recorded by Townhall shows her saying committees would pursue cases to "hold people accountable" starting now.
Beyond pardons, Trump outlined a plan to stop Democratic legislation if they win both houses of Congress.
RedState reported that Trump told Fox News he will become "Mr. Veto" in such a scenario.
"Well, if that happens, (Democrats winning Congress) well, I'll become Mr. Veto. I'm not going to let them run," he said.
He added, "And then at some point we'll probably make deals," regarding potential negotiations with the opposition.
Trump expressed hope that Republicans maintain control after Tuesday's midterms, according to RedState.
