Trump Selects Crowley For State Department Role
President-elect Donald Trump has once again turned to a trusted ally, Monica Crowley, for a prominent role in his administration.
On Wednesday, Trump announced Crowley’s nomination to three high-profile positions: ambassador, assistant secretary of State, and chief of protocol of the United States. The announcement underscores Trump’s confidence in Crowley’s broad expertise, spanning diplomacy, communication, and public service.
In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump praised Crowley’s qualifications and outlined her key upcoming responsibilities. She will represent the United States at several major events, including America’s 250th Birthday celebration in 2026, the FIFA World Cup hosted jointly by the U.S., Mexico, and Canada in 2026, and the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
These events are set to put the global spotlight on the U.S., and Crowley’s role will be pivotal in shaping the country’s diplomatic image.
Trump’s glowing endorsement highlighted Crowley’s distinguished career in public service and media. As the assistant secretary of the Treasury for public affairs during Trump’s first term, Crowley received the Alexander Hamilton Award, the department’s highest honor.
Trump also emphasized her intellectual credentials, noting her Ph.D. in international relations from Columbia University, in addition to two master’s degrees and her undergraduate degree from Colgate University.
Monica Crowley’s influence extends beyond government. She has been a prominent commentator on Fox News and Fox Business Network, often lending her sharp analysis on politics and foreign affairs.
A prolific writer, Crowley is a New York Times bestselling author, with notable works like Nixon in Winter and Nixon Off the Record, which offer a rare glimpse into the life of former President Richard Nixon during her tenure as his foreign policy assistant from 1990 until his death in 1994.
Crowley’s blend of government experience, academic prowess, and media savvy positions her as a powerful representative for the United States on the global stage. Her appointments to these roles signal a strategic effort by Trump to put seasoned, high-profile figures in positions that demand both diplomatic finesse and public visibility.
