Twilight Zone: Taliban Takes 6 Planes Of Americans Hostage, And No One Cares?
The Taliban has reportedly taken 6 planes harboring US citizens hostage and it seems like no one in power cares. To make matters worse, the media is treating the situation like an after-thought. Why isn't this the focal point for every news outlet right now?
I know the pandemic and a hectic Biden presidency has most people worn down, but this could be the single largest hostage situation in American history but it's getting very little coverage. That's seriously concerning.
Rep. Michael McCaul (R) of Texas seems to be the only official waving a red flag right now and it makes me wonder if this cut-rate administration plans on quietly abandoning Americans who are trying to flee.
McCaul, the ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told willfully bewildered Chris Wallace that the Taliban are basically holding Americans hostage. This interview took place Sunday on Fox News:
“Since we pulled out, how many Afghan allies have gotten out since the Taliban was in complete control of the country?” Fox News anchor Chris Wallace asked.
“Zero,” McCaul responded. “And, in fact, we have six airplanes at Mazar Sharif Airport, six airplanes with American citizens on them as I speak, also with these interpreters, and the Taliban is holding them hostage for demands right now. They — we — [the] state has cleared these flights and the Taliban will not let them leave the airport. So, I’m sorry, the answer to your question is zero. And that’s my concern is they’re going to demand more and more, whether it be cash or legitimacy as the government of Afghanistan.”
“You’re saying that there are Americans on airplanes ready to fly out of Afghanistan right now, and they’re not being allowed out because Taliban is making demands?” Wallace seemed to question in disbelief. “What demands are the Taliban making?”
“Well, they are not — they are not clearing the airplanes to depart. They’ve sat at the airport for the last couple of days, these planes, and they’re not allowed to leave,” McCaul responded. “We know the reason why is because the Taliban want something in exchange. This is really, Chris, turning into a hostage situation where they’re not going to allow American citizens to leave until they get full recognition from the United States of America. My concern is that Zalmay Khalilzad, [our] special envoy who’s met with the Taliban, they’re in talks right now, and I think — I worry his recommendation to the administration will be to recognize the Taliban as the official government of the United States, a Taliban organization that is a terrorist organization.”

The State Department urged members of Congress to tell people trying to leave Afghanistan through Mazar-i-Sharif that the government “does not have personnel on the ground in Mazar, we do not have air assets in the country, and we do not control the airspace.”
After 20 long years, the US has lost complete control of Afghanistan and is now at the mercy of the Taliban to let Americans leave, thanks to Biden. In Biden's short months in office, we have experienced more service member deaths n Afghanistan than we have in over a year. Now, it looks like the US faces the largest hostage situation in recent history.
I'm not even listing the man-made crises the US now faces domestically, thanks to Biden.
