UN Secretary-General Sounds The Alarm To ‘Bone-Chilling Development'
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that a nuclear threat is back on the table after decades-long relief. “Raising the alert level of Russian nuclear forces is a bone-chilling development,” he said while speaking at a news confrence.
said that a nuclear conflict is 'within the realm of possibilities and he set everyone's fears on edge as he explained that the once 'unthinkable' threat is yet again, back on the table.
“Raising the alert level of Russian nuclear forces is a bone-chilling development,” Guterres told reporters on Monday, noting that the potential for nuclear war still exists as Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine.
“The prospect of nuclear conflict, once unthinkable, is now back within the realm of possibility,” Guterres added.
Given the threat of nuclear war, as well as the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, Guterres called for a diplomatic solution.
“It’s time to stop the horror unleashed on the people of Ukraine and get on the path of diplomacy and peace,” Guterres said. “The appeals for peace must be heard. This tragedy must stop.”

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has largely been stalled on all fronts and is suffering heavy losses as it enters its fourth week, according to the latest British intelligence update.
The Russian troops have made minimal progress in recent days on land, sea and air, the update said. This comes shortly after a Russian airstrike tore through a theatre sheltering thousands of civilians in Mariupol, leaving many buried under burning rubble.
On one hand, Putin's war isn't going as he planned. On the other, it may lead him to push for nuclear action. I believe that's just what the UN is concerned about. Putin has been backed in a corner. If he goes home without a 'victory' he'll surely be removed and could face death.
