US Military Braces For Possible War Thanks To Pelosi's Planned Trip
In July, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi released her plans to visit Taiwan in an attempt to drum up support from the Isaland's allies. In response, China threatened the US with "serious consequences" if Pelosi makes good on those plans. Obviously, the US cannot just stand by while a foreign communist country makes blatant threats of war so the US Military readied soldiers for the worst-case scenario.
The question I have is about Pelosi's timing and her motives behind the visit. Tensions, at this time, between the US and China are at an all-time high. Just two weeks ago Biden informed Americans that the military has urged against visiting Taiwan at this time but Pelosi has not announced any changes in her plans.
According to reports, the United States military is making preparations ahead of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's planned visit to Taiwan.
The U.S. military is prepared for every contingency and would increase its movement of forces and assets in the Indo-Pacific region.
Officials told The Associated Press that fighter jets, ships, surveillance assets and other military systems would likely be used to provide overlapping rings of protection for her flight to Taiwan and any time on the ground there.
According to other reports, Pelosi has invited a small group of lawmakers on her official trip to Taiwan, including the top Democrat and Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, told NBC News on Wednesday.
As far as we can tell, those politicians all refused her invitation. Most likely because of the poor timing.
The White House continued to refuse to confirm if Pelosi still intends to visit. In fact, DHA sec John Kirby told the concerned press Monday that 'Pelosi makes her own decision' and added that she was not told to not go.
