Video Of Domestic Incident Behind Reality Star’s Assault Conviction Released
A newly surfaced video involving reality television personality Taylor Frankie Paul is intensifying scrutiny surrounding a 2023 domestic incident that resulted in criminal charges and a guilty plea.
The footage, released by TMZ, appears to show Paul engaged in a violent altercation with her then-partner, Dakota Mortensen. In the video, Mortensen is seen attempting to record the encounter while Paul repeatedly advances toward him, at times throwing metal barstools and attempting to strike or kick him.
The situation unfolds in close proximity to a child, who is visible in the room and audibly distressed during the confrontation.
According to reports, Mortensen can be heard warning Paul that a child is present as the incident escalates. Law enforcement later documented that a 5-year-old involved sustained a minor head injury described as a “goose egg.” Authorities were alerted after a neighbor reported the disturbance, prompting a police response.
The video became a central piece of evidence in the legal case that followed. Paul ultimately pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in connection with the incident.
As part of a plea agreement, several additional charges, including domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse, and criminal mischief, were dropped. She was sentenced to three years of probation, set to conclude in August 2026.
The case remains under review by Utah’s Division of Children and Family Services, and both individuals have reportedly been ordered to undergo psychological evaluations. The resurfacing of the footage has renewed attention on the circumstances surrounding the incident and its broader implications.
Paul’s representative has issued a statement disputing the context of the video’s release, accusing Mortensen of distributing selectively edited material in an effort to damage her reputation. The statement also criticized the timing of the release, characterizing it as harmful to their family.
The fallout has extended beyond the legal sphere into Paul’s professional career. Production related to “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” has reportedly been paused, and ABC has canceled plans for her season of “The Bachelorette.” The network cited the emergence of the video as a determining factor, stating that its priority is to focus on the well-being of those involved.
