Viral Video Leads To Arrest Of Irate Woman Who Deliberately Coughed On A Brain Tumor Patient
Heather Sprague was just trying to get to her appointment at Pier 1 in Jacksonville, Florida but an irrate customer would make her visit more like a nightmare. As Sprague waited for her scheduled appointment she couldn't help but overhear a woman cursing and screaming at a cashier. When things seemed like they might get physical, Sprague did what most people now days would do and pulled out her phone to record the dispute for police.
That little action was enough for the irate woman to involve Sprague in her rant and subsequently coughing directly in her face. Coughing and spitting on people has become something of a trend since the start of the pandemic. Police reports have shown that officers are, more often than not, the targets of this weird new assault.
Sprague shared the video and her story to Facebook and it went viral from there:
"I had an appointment in the Town Center area, so I donned my mask and ducked into a store to escape the heat while I waited for my appointment time," Sprague wrote. "There were two small children wandering around the store unattended for an extended period, and the little guy was doing the potty dance."
Sprague is one of the 'at risk' groups to intentionally fall deathly ill from the Wuhan virus. She is currently undergoing treatment for a brain tumor. Hence why she set an appointment with the store. She was, at the time of the attack, wearing her mask.
"It became apparent that they belonged to a woman at the register who was becoming increasingly belligerent. She was screaming at, swearing, insulting, and threatening the staff as she demanded to return an item she didn't have with her, just a photo of the item on her phone. The staff were professional and respectful. But they couldn't return an item she didn't actually have with her," she claimed.
"She continued to rage, all the while her poor little boy was squirming and asking for a bathroom, which she would have needed to leave the store to find. When she positioned herself so the clerks couldn't exit the checkout area and screamed that she would stay right there, yelling as loud as she wanted, until all their customers left... I stood at a distance, pulled out my phone and wordlessly began filming," Sprague explained.
Yesterday I learned firsthand the power of conscientious bystanders. It took 30 seconds to end 15 minutes of aggressive...
According to Insider, the woman was identified by police as Debra Hunter. They note that she has been charged with assault.
Since Sprague posted her video it has been shared more than 34,000 times with just over 4.2 million views.
It seems strange that the woman was trying to return an item she didn't actually have. It's made even more strange by the fact that she was trying to force the clerk to do the return using a photo on her phone of this 'item'. Reports don't really give many details about the item or why she was pushing to complete a return without item, but this speaks volumes as to where we are going in these trying times.
Get some sunshine, people. Make good choices and stay safe out there.
