Watch: Lawmaker Who Helped Write In Obamacare Now Believes It’s Garbage
Illinois Dem, Rep. Jan Schakowsky admitted that she helped push Obamacare into law and it’s not working. News of her ‘betrayal’ must really upset other Dems like Clinton and Pelosi.
“I’m also the co-sponsor of Medicare for America, I helped write the Affordable Care Act, I’m for improving it, I’m for all the plans because what we have now is not working,” Schakowsky said.
Schakowsy was part of the group of lawmakers who passed Obamacare through the House and now it seems she’s regretting that move but her website certainly hasn’t caught up to the news:
Her site says, “One of the most rewarding days of my life was March 23, 2010—the day when the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) was signed into law.”
Since 2013, a year before many of Obamacare’s rules and regulations were implemented, health insurance premiums doubled in costs, according to a Department of Health and Human Services report. Former President Obama promised that his signature legislative achievement would not cause Americans to lose their health insurance plans, but as the law took effect, millions of insurance plans were cancelled.
“We need a bold plan here and I am on every bill to improve health care,” Schakowsky added.
One of the biggest drawback to the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is that it made it extremely UN-affordably to the general public.
Obamacare’s individual mandate forces Americans to buy increasingly unaffordable health insurance or pay a tax. With insurance premiums (and also deductibles) increasing at such a rapid rate, many in the middle class are faced with higher and higher bills when visiting their doctor or a hospital.
At a high of nearly 50% rate increase, Minnesota’s market premium tops the chart. Minnesota is followed by Alaska with a 39.6% increase- Oregon and Tennessee trail closely with 37.1% and 36.3%, respectively. Of the 50 states, enrollees in 34 states saw a top increase in premiums of 20% or more. The premium percentage increases from private insurance companies are broken down by state, proving that Obama’s claim that “healthcare inflation has slowed…” is clearly false.
