Watch: Rona-Thugs Burn Church For Staying Open: ‘Bet You Stay Home Now Hypokrits’
I'm just going to start to refer to these 'assailants' and people like them, as rona-bullies or rona-thugs. It will help me cover a wide range of coronavirus crazies who torment others for not complying with their views. That includes the 'mask' bullies who terrorize people with breathing problems who can't wear a mask- to the cowards who burned down a church for holding services. It's more accurate than calling them 'Karens', plus not every Karen is unhinged liberal.
A Mississippi church in the midst of a legal battle to stay open despite local shutdown orders was burned to the ground early Wednesday morning. According to first responders, the First Pentecostal Church of Holly Springs was vandalized and suffered a large explosion to the back of the church. The incident is being investigated as a criminal act of arson, DailyWire reported.
“I Bet you stay home now you hypokrits,” read one message spray painted on the church parking lot, Thomas More Society senior counsel and lawyer for the church Stephen Crampton told Fox News on Thursday.
“First Pentacostal Church Holly Springs. Arson is Suspected,” reported Tom Dees of FOX 13 Memphis. “Investigators say the church was spray painted with graffiti and set on fire. There was a major explosion in the back of the church that blew out the front.”
Stephen Crampton, an attorney for the church, told WHBQ-TV on Thursday that the unknown vandal or vandals spray-painted the church and set it on fire.
"There was a major explosion in the back of the church that blew out the front," Crampton said.
Crampton also said that he believed the church was targeted for "being outspoken and somewhat firm about seeking to protect their constitutional rights" by refusing to close during the pandemic.
"We're in a time where I don't think it's any secret that there's a growing hostility toward churches across the board," he said. "And now, here are churches like First Pentecostal that are sort of stirring up the waters by being outspoken and somewhat firm about seeking to protect their constitutional rights."
He added, "[The church has] had bad comments [sent their way] on social media. There is just a segment that takes issue with the church standing up, and the church just being the church."
Pastor Jerry Waldrop promised that the church would be rebuilt.
"We are going to keep the faith, and we're going to keep doing what we have always done, and maybe not on this location," Waldrop said. "I'll get with our faithful people, and maybe we'll rent a building or whatever we need to do for the time being."
The Pastor also told WHBQ-TV that construction will begin as soon as possible on the same sight. He doesn't think it will be an issue but I doubt the Pastor will let the rona-thugs deter him.
