'We Need To Restore God' And 'Better Parenting': Gov Abbott Signs New Bill
Texas's Governor Abbott has been under liberal fire lately for his attempts to restore Texas back to a better time, fight violent crimes, and thwart illegal immigration. Clearly, though, Abbott doesn't mind taking the heat and continues to make liberals heads explode with his wholesome and honest comments. During the signing of his new Bail bill, Abbott declared that it was time for parents to be more involved and for Texans to 'restore God' back into the community.
"We need better parenting, greater parental involvement. We need to restore God in our communities," Abbott said. "If we do that, we will be able to reduce crime in this region."
The governor delivered the remarks during a bill signing for Texas' new bail reform law as part of his continued efforts to fight crime.
Senate Bill 6 was passed by the Texas Legislature last month, after Abbott declared changes to the state’s bail system an emergency at the beginning of the state’s regular legislative session that began in January. At a summit in Houston, Abbott said the bail bill, named after a slain state trooper, was one he would have called lawmakers back for continuous special legislative sessions until they passed it.
“The Damon Allen Act makes it harder for dangerous criminals to be released from jail on bail,” he said before signing the bill.
Under the new law, defendants accused of violent crimes or anyone arrested on a felony charge already out on bond in a violent case will be limited to using cash bail.
The trooper was killed during a traffic stop back in 2017. The accused murder suspect was out of jail on a $15,500 bond after allegedly assaulting a sheriff’s deputy.

Texas has been hit with criticism from the left lately after the state was successful in passing a nearly complete ban on abortions. The new law bans abortion after 6 weeks of gestation when the baby's heart beat is detectable.
Biden's Department of Justice submitted an emergency motion late Tuesday seeking a temporary restraining order or preliminary injunction on Texas' ban on abortions after six weeks.
While abortion patients themselves can’t be sued under the new law, anyone who performs or aids with the abortion can be sued — and by almost anyone. Legal experts interviewed by The Texas Tribune have said the law dramatically expands the concept of a civil lawsuit and is aimed at keeping providers from using the constitutional right to an abortion under Roe v. Wade as a legal defense.
