Britain Makes Announcement On Military Spending
Well, well, well—look who finally got the memo.
Britain is waking up to reality and doing what Trump has been telling them to do for years: spend more on their own defense instead of expecting Uncle Sam to foot the bill. Prime Minister Keir Starmer just announced the U.K. will increase its military spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2027, with a long-term goal of hitting 3% by 2034.
And let’s be honest—this isn’t happening out of some newfound sense of responsibility. It’s happening because Trump has made it crystal clear that the days of the U.S. carrying NATO on its back are over.
Europe either steps up, or they get left to deal with their own problems. Starmer, a left-wing Labour Party leader, is no fan of Trump, but even he knows that without American leadership, Britain better have a military that can actually defend itself.
So, how’s Britain paying for this? By slashing foreign aid, of course—cutting it from 0.5% of GDP to 0.3%. And while Starmer is trying to sound regretful about it, let’s be real: the British people aren’t going to shed too many tears over less money going to bloated, ineffective “development” projects in corrupt foreign regimes. Maybe they should have been prioritizing their own security all along.
Starmer is dressing all this up in the usual NATO and Ukraine rhetoric, claiming that “tyrants like Putin only respond to strength.”
That’s rich, considering it’s the left-wing elites in both the U.K. and the U.S. who spent years appeasing Russia, gutting their own defense budgets, and pushing useless sanctions instead of real deterrence. And now, suddenly, they’re all about military strength? Interesting timing.
Meanwhile, Trump is in the middle of his own negotiations to bring the war in Ukraine to an end, and he’s been brutally honest about Zelensky’s role in all this. While Starmer is making grand speeches about standing with Ukraine “for as long as necessary,” Trump is talking to Putin and making it clear that the U.S. won’t keep writing blank checks.
And when Trump calls Zelensky a “dictator,” the media clutches its pearls—but let’s not forget that Zelensky canceled elections, cracked down on opposition parties, and muzzled the press. Sounds an awful lot like what left-wing leaders in the West are trying to do to their own political enemies, doesn’t it?
