Cheney Takes Part In Town Hall With Harris
On Monday, Kamala Harris held a so-called "town hall" event alongside Liz Cheney, and boy, did things go south fast. Before anyone even got to the questions, moderator Maria Shriver managed to set the tone by admitting that all the questions were pre-determined. Yep, in what was supposed to be a spontaneous, engaging back-and-forth with voters, it turned out that every response was rehearsed and scripted. Not a great way to kick things off, and it only got worse from there.
Let’s talk about Kamala Harris for a moment, because what unfolded next was a textbook example of why she continues to struggle in the authenticity department. Harris has what can only be described as "theater kid syndrome." What does that mean? Well, you know that overly dramatic person who just can’t stop performing, even when the camera isn’t rolling? That’s Harris. She tries so hard to deliver polished lines and rehearse every word, but it comes across as stiff, awkward, and deeply inauthentic. It doesn’t help that she has this bizarre tendency to laugh at things that aren’t remotely funny. It’s as if she’s desperately trying to fill the awkward silence, and it never works.

Case in point: during one segment, Harris offered this gem of a line, delivered with the gravitas of someone trying way too hard:
"In many, many ways, Donald Trump is an unserious man."
She paused dramatically, as if she’d just dropped some profound truth bomb. Then, she followed it up with:
"But the consequences of him being president of the United States are brutally serious."
Now, it’s not that the sentiment is wrong. Sure, Trump’s presidency had serious consequences. But the delivery? It was so obviously scripted, it felt like watching a bad high school play. The issue was that everyone already knew the questions were predetermined, so it was painfully obvious Harris had rehearsed her lines word-for-word. Instead of coming off as thoughtful or relatable, she sounded like an actor who’s gone through one too many rehearsals. The whole thing fell flat.

Then there’s Liz Cheney, who looked like she was regretting every second of this event. Her body language said it all. If she wasn’t staring blankly into space, she was glancing off to the side, looking bored out of her mind. You could almost see the gears turning as she realized, with each overly rehearsed answer from Harris, that she had hitched herself to a sinking ship. Whatever political future Cheney might have had is quickly fading, and aligning herself with Harris only speeds up that process.
Cheney's decision to team up with Harris was already a head-scratcher from the start. But now, watching her sit through this town hall, it’s clear that whatever political promise was dangled in front of her is losing value by the minute. As Harris fumbled through her canned lines, Cheney’s hopes of revitalizing her career seemed to drift further away.

At this point, it’s too late for Cheney. She made her choice, and now she’s stuck with it. What’s left is the inevitable final act, where Cheney faces the last bit of fallout from her political missteps. It’s a fitting conclusion for someone who tried to play both sides and ended up pleasing no one.
