Former Disney Star Sues Company
Hollywood Actress Gina Carano, known for her roles in “The Mandalorian” and “Deadpool,” has filed a lawsuit against Disney on Tuesday. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. federal court for the Central District of California, alleges that Carano was wrongfully terminated by Disney and seeks to force Lucasfilm to recast her.
Carano made the announcement on her social media account, stating that the lawsuit was prompted in part by an offer from billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk. Musk had previously stated that X, one of his companies, would fund the legal bill of anyone who was "unfairly treated by your employer due to posting or liking something on this platform."
The actress was fired by Disney in February of this year after she posted a screenshot of a social media post that warned of the current political climate resembling Nazi Germany. Her post stated, "Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children.” Disney deemed the post as offensive and terminated Carano from her role as Cara Dune in the popular “Star Wars” spinoff show, “The Mandalorian.”
Today is an important day for me--I am filing a lawsuit against @lucasfilm & @Disney
After my 20 years of building a career from scratch, and during the regime of former Disney CEO Bob Chapek, Lucasfilm made this statement on Twitter, terminating me from The Mandalorian: “Gina…

The decision faced massive backlash from fans and fellow castmates, with some defending Carano's character and claiming that she was unfairly treated. In response to the termination, The Daily Wire announced a partnership with Carano for a movie deal, resulting in the feature film “Terror on the Prairie” set to premiere in June 2022.
In her lawsuit, Carano claims that she suffered financial losses from the termination, including the loss of millions of dollars in potential income. She also argues that her posts were consistently twisted to “demonize and dehumanize” her as an “alt right wing extremist.” She maintains that she never used aggressive language, but instead shared thought-provoking quotes, pictures, and occasional comedy to keep the mood light.
Carano alleges that her questions about masks, lockdowns, and forced vaccines were not accepted for discussion and resulted in harassment and censorship from online bullies. She also questions why her male co-stars were allowed to speak their minds without repercussion, but she was not afforded the same right.

The actress also points out the hypocrisy of Hollywood claiming to support female representation and equal rights while silencing her for expressing her views. She states that she has spoken to all her co-stars since her termination and there is nothing but “care and kind words” between them. She claims that she respects their right to free speech and that they do not have to agree on every issue to be friends and work together.
Carano expressed gratitude towards Elon Musk and X for giving her the opportunity to bring her case to light. She reveals that a few months ago, she received an email from lawyers hired by X to look into her story and others like hers. She states that her lawyers and X believe wholeheartedly in her case and have decided to move forward with the lawsuit.
An anonymous source just sent me this from Disney. It is mandatory, institutionalized racism and sexism! pic.twitter.com/npMy8YfA1j

The actress ends her post by saying that she hopes to pick up where she left off and continue her passion for creating and participating in story-telling. She states that it has been difficult to move forward with the lies and labels stuck on her, backed and encouraged by the powerful Disney company. She thanks all the people who have supported her and made their voices heard and prays that God blesses each and every one of them.
This lawsuit against Disney by Gina Carano is not only a legal battle but also a reflection of the ongoing debate on free speech in the entertainment industry. Many fans are eagerly awaiting the outcome of this case, as it could have a significant impact on the future of actors and actresses in Hollywood. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
