Former Legislator Arrested on Disturbing Changes
A former Pennsylvania state lawmaker is facing federal child pornography charges after investigators alleged they found more than 100 illegal files across multiple electronic devices.
Jesse White, a Democrat who represented Pennsylvania's 46th House District from 2007 to 2015, has been charged with possession of child pornography and receipt and distribution of child pornography. According to the New York Post, federal investigators recovered more than 100 files from laptops and external hard drives during their investigation.
Court documents allege that some of the material depicted children as young as 7 years old. Investigators also claim White admitted to using the dark web to search for illegal images and videos, allegedly relying on software and services including qBittorrent, Telegram, and the Tor browser.
According to the complaint, the files allegedly included explicit material involving children ranging from approximately 7 to 15 years old.
The investigation reportedly began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cybertip involving suspected homemade child sexual abuse material. One image allegedly showed a young boy, estimated to be between 5 and 6 years old, in a shower.
Federal investigators said a man wearing a wedding band was visible in the photograph and alleged the image was taken in January 2019 using a phone belonging to White.

A second tip reportedly involved another image of a nude boy believed to be between 9 and 11 years old that investigators say was created in August 2021.
The criminal complaint also notes that White has two minor sons, a fact investigators referenced as part of the broader investigation. The publicly filed charges do not allege that either child depicted in the reported images has been positively identified.
White's legal troubles predate the current federal case.
KDKA-TV reported that White surrendered his Pennsylvania law license in 2017 after allegations that he had misappropriated more than $100,000 from clients to support a gambling addiction. Criminal charges related to those allegations were later dropped, although he was disbarred.
The station also reported that White was sued by his mother in 2015 over allegations that he impersonated her to obtain a credit card and accumulated roughly $27,000 in debt. KDKA additionally reported on an investigation alleging that White used false online identities to criticize political opponents.
The federal charges involving child sexual abuse material are allegations, and White is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. If convicted on the current federal offenses, he could face substantial prison time under federal sentencing laws.
The case remains under investigation, and prosecutors will be required to prove each charge beyond a reasonable doubt as the proceedings move forward.
