JD Vance Visits Nantucket
Sen. JD Vance appears to have inherited President Donald Trump’s knack for sending his critics into full-blown meltdowns — and his latest trip is proving no exception.
Barely a week after California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) lobbed cheap shots at Vance and his family during their visit to Disneyland, leftist activists are now fixating on his appearance in Nantucket for a GOP fundraiser. Vance, who also serves as the Republican National Committee’s finance chairman, is set to headline the event, and — predictably — the outrage machine is already in high gear.

Among the loudest voices is Amanda McGonigle, a Massachusetts resident who runs the Instagram account @catsonacouch, which boasts over a million followers and features a mix of cat photos and political commentary — much of it aimed squarely at Vance.
McGonigle announced plans for what she described as “good trouble” during Vance’s visit, coordinating with progressive activist groups including Massachusetts 50501, Indivisible Nantucket, Indivisible Upper Cape, Mid Cape Indivisible, and Cape Cod Women for Change.

“You may have heard that we have plenty of ideas for ‘good trouble’ planned,” McGonigle said in a video posted to her page, promising a visible protest presence on the island.
This isn’t the first time Vance has drawn such attention. His Disneyland trip with wife Usha and their children — part family visit, part political swing, since his in-laws live in California — prompted online mobs to cheer hecklers who jeered at the family in public. Some even suggested that Vance’s young children “needed to know what their father is about,” underscoring how deep the hostility toward the Ohio senator runs in progressive circles.
