WNBA Game Interrupted After Object Thrown On Court
Well, the WNBA wanted more attention, but probably not like this.
Tuesday night’s game between the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries was cruising along — Golden State clinging to a late lead — when things took a turn from tense to downright bizarre. With about a minute left in the fourth quarter, something came flying out of the stands and onto the court. At first, it just looked like an odd piece of bright-green debris. Then cameras zoomed in.
You got opponents dating.. coaches dating players.. teammates dating teammates.. endless missed lay ups... wigs falling off in the middle of games.. and now a dildo on the court. a bright green one at that.
this is unserious. https://t.co/D1rX66YJG1

It wasn’t debris. It was a sex toy. A lime green one.
Yes, in the middle of a two-point game, someone thought the perfect time to make a statement (whatever that statement was supposed to be) was to hurl an adult novelty item at professional athletes.
Even the broadcasters were caught off guard. “Inappropriate. Get them out of here, whoever it is,” one Dream announcer said as the camera quickly cut away. And here’s the wild part — play didn’t even stop. The Valkyries kept running their offense as the thing bounced toward the sideline like it was just another loose ball. It wasn’t until Golden State turned it over out of bounds that a police officer casually strolled over and scooped the item off the hardwood.

Golden State hung on for a 77–75 win despite scoring only eight points in the final frame. Cecilia Zandalasini, who came off the bench to lead the Valkyries with 18 points and 8 rebounds, admitted the team was stunned but had to keep focus. “Once we found out what it was, I guess we just started laughing. I’ve never seen anything like that,” she told SF Gate.

Jordin Canada led all scorers with 21 points and 8 assists for Atlanta, but the Dream couldn’t overcome Golden State’s late-game defense.
The league hasn’t said if the fan responsible was caught, but let’s be honest — it’s probably only a matter of time before “Dildo-Gate” becomes a meme.
